SUPPORTED LIVING

Independent Futures was set up to provide high quality supported living accommodation for adults with disabilities as well as advice and consultancy services.

Our Housemates, as we call them, are empowered to take responsibility for their lives and encouraged to be actively involved in the local community.  This could involve volunteering, joining social groups or supporting local events. Our Housemates all work in the local area and have jobs ranging from working in fashion retail, assisting in an IT department at a large local employer, and working in a local garden centre.  The Housemates are involved in a range of pastimes including karate, supporting Oxford United, cooking, and hosting a local radio show.

The Housemates are supported by a team of dedicated professional Personal Assistants who are 'young at heart'.  The team provide a 24/7 service as well as practical advice and support.

Our houses are located in a residential area, a short distance from the town centre with services including shops, Doctors, leisure services and bus routes.

In 2015 Independent Futures won the West Oxfordshire Business Award for Innovation.  You can see a video of highlights of the presentation evening here
